Fall in love with the gorgeous seaside town of White Cliff Bay this summer and enjoy long sunny days, beautiful beaches and… a little romance. Darcy Davenport is ready for a fresh start. Determined to leave a string of disastrous jobs and relationships behind her, she can’t wait to explore White Cliff Bay and meet the locals. When Darcy swims in the crystal clear waters of the bay, she discovers the charming Rose Island Lighthouse. But it’s not just the beautiful building that she finds so intriguing… Riley Eddison doesn’t want change. Desperate to escape the memories of his past, he lives a life of solitude in the lighthouse. Yet he can’t help but notice the gorgeous woman who swims out to his island one day. Darcy is drawn to the mysterious and sexy Riley, but when it seems the town is trying to demolish his home, she soon finds herself having to pick sides. She’s fallen in love with White Cliff Bay. But is that all Darcy’s fallen for? Pull up a deck chair, sink back with a bowl of strawberry ice cream and pick up the summer read you won’t be able to put down.
My opinion.
Reading a Holly Martin novel feels like coming home. Especially so with her White Cliff Bay series. All her characters feel like your life-long friends. You instantly connect with them and feel both their hardship and their happiness. This is the third time visiting the cozy coastal village of White Cliff Bay and although it could be read as a stand alone novel, it's great catching up with characters from previous books and adding yet another story to the community makes it seem like you really know this village. It feels familiar yet it keeps surprising you.
I really enjoyed the fight for conservation and preservation of the village's heritage and nature's wildlife in this book. Call me a geek, but I loved it. It's a heartfelt cause, perfect for a village to rally around.
Darcy is probably one of the most original female protagonists I've come across in a chicklit/romance novel. Her interests are quirky and unusual, yet she's very easy to connect with. Yet again Holly wrote a heroine you'd want as your best friend. And although Riley wouldn't be my dream (book)boyfriend, the connection between Darcy and him was so incredible and it just goes to show what an incredible author Holly is: she made me fall for him anyway! As always I could go on and on, but seriously: just go get your copy and start reading!
