#BookReview Anne-Marie Meyer - Lucky Charm

The Blurb.

I thought my luck was about to change when my best friend found me an apartment to sublet in the heart of Nashville, TN. As an aspiring singer, this is where I need to be in order to finally get discovered. I’m ready to start my new life until I discover my new neighbor is none other than Stone Walker.

Super Bowl winning, NFL receiver.
Stone cold fox.
My high school crush.
And my brother’s ex-best friend—emphasis on the ex.

I know I should probably tuck tail and run, but I don’t. If Stone can handle this new living arrangement then so can I. Besides, neighbors don’t have to talk to each other. Until my best friend comes up with a plan. I should fake date Stone. After all, I have the talent, the drive, and the music. All I need is the visibility.

And Stone has that in spades.

I thought he would reject the plan, but he’s surprisingly on board. Now he’s showing up at my gigs with flowers and kisses me until my head spins and my knees go weak. And when he scores a touchdown and dances just for me? I want this relationship to be real. But falling in love wasn’t part of the agreement. Stone walked way from our family once and I don’t think I’m strong enough for him to do it again.

Goodreads

My review.

With a dedication that reads "To Travis and Taylor. Thank you for the inspiration", there was no way I was not reading this book. Immediately. The first time I have ever judged a book by its dedication, and it did not disappoint. "Lucky Charm" hit the exact romantic vibes you'd hope for and expect when picturing Taylor and Travis. And although Em and Stone's story in the book is their own and author Anne-Marie Meyer doesn't try to imitate those real life characters or their life events, the inspiration is clear in the wonderful romance that just sweeps you off your feet. The big game, the music,.. In love with a love story.
That being said.. it did feel like a missed opportunity. The vibe, romance and main characters were so great and exactly right. Two people with a complicated past, a fake relationship,  the team dynamics, a music career... There was so much more potential here to really dig deep. I would have loved to have their fake relationship and their denail drawn out longer, for example. Maybe have his grandma meet her. And what about the drama or closure or,... Stone's reintroduction to her family would have brought? It felt like half of the chapters were missing and this was rushed. The story was told and it was fun and romantic. But it could have been epic.
I'm sure all my fellow (hopeless) romantics and/or Swifties will enjoy escaping in this daydream of a book.
