Book blitz: Hush Hush #1 - Anneliese Vandell

Fifty Shades of Grey meets Revenge in this tantalizing new series about a young woman who’s willing to do anything in the name of vengeance.

Something terrible happened to April Morrison when she was eleven years old. When she returns home to New Orleans fourteen years later as “Sophia,” she has only one word on her mind: revenge. She’s got her eye on Charles and Barbara Hawthorne, the crowning jewel of New Orleans’ elite and the ones responsible for turning her life upside down.

Enter Liam Hawthorne, the couple’s successful, strikingly handsome, and irresistibly dominant thirty-two year old son. When Liam makes a provocative proposal, it occurs to April that he may be just the “in” she needs. But what she doesn’t bargain for is Liam’s insatiable—and thrilling—sexual appetite. And as Liam begins to test April’s limits, she realizes that appearances are not what they seem.

Book tour: Tied Up With Love - Amelia Thorne

‘We’re from KMW. Do exactly as you’re told and you won’t get hurt...'

Being grabbed off the street, blind folded, tied up and thrown into a van was not what Izzy expected to happen when she stepped out the door that morning. But when an accidental kidnapping at the hands of the sexy Ethan Chase and his 'Kidnap My Wife' sexual fantasy business leads to just that, Izzy seizes the chance to turn her misfortune into a brilliant new job opportunity…

Since then, life has been one big tangle of new client meetings, fake kidnapping pick-ups, and handling the temperamental, but drop dead gorgeous 'bad boy' Mr Chase. But, as liberating as being tied up in Ethan's life is, Izzy knows the time is fast approaching when she must make some decisions and take charge of her future. The only question is: will Ethan allow himself to be a part of it?

My opinion.
Another fabulously fun novel by Amelia Thorne. A 'Kidnap My Wife' agency? How does she come up with these things! And the amazing thing is: it actually works.Tied Up With Love had me laughing out loud, squealing with excitement and blushing fiercely. The story was captivating from - literally - the first page and I was oblivious to my surroundings for the entire read. The chemistry - in true Amelia Thorne style - is blazing hot, the characters deep and detailed, their relationships believable. And dead sexy. From the moment I started reading Tied Up With Love I couldn't put it down and I'm already looking forward to her next novel. The first thing I thought after finishing was "MORE!".

Book Tour: Catching Lightning - Katie Stephens

Is there ever a right time and place for love?
Can one ever tell when or where it will strike?
Can the love of a man win over the loathing of his country?

You never know where or when lightning will strike, but when it happens on a trip back to Kenya to bury your parents you know the timing isn’t great.

Mel has spent the past 14 years resenting her parents for abandoning her at a boarding school in England while they went back to Kenya, a country she had come to hate, to run an orphanage and school for their charity. A tragic accident forces her to return to Kamuti for her parents’ funeral, forcing her to face her fear of flying and hatred for the place which has now stolen her parents from her for good. But meeting the people who meant so much to her parents and above all the gorgeous, England-educated Sam was not part of the plan.

My opinion.
The first thing that struck me (hehe) about this book was it's gorgeous cover. Great design and colours!
... and what a fabulous story to match. Katie Stephens made me fall in love, not only with Mel, Sam and Kerry, but with Kenya as well. A country I've never been to before and never shown any interest in now feels as wonderful and familiar as an old holiday destination.
Catching Lightning is an incredibly emotional story full of love, friendship and loss. But most of all, it's beautiful. The people, the Center, their relationships... All of it is breathtakingly gorgeous and moving.
"Kenya gets under your skin"? Catching Lightning certainly got under mine. I will think back on all these wonderful characters long after reading this.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR. Katie Stephens is the #1 bestselling author of CANDLES ON THE SAND. She works in PR and lives in Surrey, England, with her husband Will and two young daughters. In 2008 Katie signed herself up for a creative writing course, loved it and found herself spending all her spare time (not much with 2 young children) at the computer. Her first novel Candles on the Sand, set on the Amalfi Coast, was published in 2011 and went on to become an Amazon bestseller. Facebook Katie-Stephens-Author Twitter @KatieStephensGB

Book review: A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire #2) - George R.R. Martin

Click the cover to read my review for "A Game Of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire #1)"

Throughout Westeros, the cold winds are rising. From the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding lands of Winterfell, chaos reigns as pretenders to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms stake their claims through tempest, turmoil and war. As a prophecy of doom cuts across the sky - a comet the colour of blood and flame - five factions struggle for control of a divided land. Brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night.

My opinion.
Ah, what a brilliant series this is! I loved, LOVED reading A Clash Of Kings. In the first book of the series, A Game Of Thrones, a variety of characters is being introduced from all over Westeros and the Free Cities - each of them wonderful, amazing and mysterious in their own way. If you thought George R.R. Martin made a lot happen in that one book, be prepared for this one.
The amount of conspiracies, battles and secrets is incredible; the amount of detail staggering.
The characters all take the next step in the journey that was laid out for them in A Game Of Thrones - all of those journeys are proving to be full of danger and unexpected twists and turns, friends and foes. Even if you've watched the tv-series already, this book won't cease to amaze and surprise you.
I can barely stop myself from starting the next book in the series right away, but since I can't bear the thought of having to wait months before a new book comes out, I promised myself to read slowly, and to fully enjoy these incredible books.
